Hello, we are Bill and Dianne Poast, and we would like to welcome you to North Star Percherons and Northern Star Miniatures.
We live on a 747 acre farm, 14 miles North East of Dauphin, Manitoba nestled on the west shore of Lake Dauphin. Our farm has been in our family for 63 years, After my father passed away in 1964 I took over the farm with my wife Dianne. We were blessed with two sons Lloyd, Paddy and a daughter Shaunalea.
I worked for the city of Dauphin for 22 years as the Parking Patrol Officer and By-Law Enforcement Officer, retiring in December 31/02. I am now looking after the horses full-time. Dianne is an LPN and works as a receptionist / office nurse. She has shown registered Maltese, Shelties, Bernese, and Great Pyrenees.
We have raised registered Percherons for 41 years and Registered Clydesdales for 18 years, and have even had a few Belgians, but we sold the last of our clydes in 2004. I showed draft horses up to 1996 but do not show anymore, but I have judged a number of draft horse shows in the last 10 years. We started in miniature horses in 1996 and now have 50 plus A.M.H.A miniatures. We still have 18 Percherons and 2 miniature donkeys.
